EDDY CARROLL

Melbourne Based artist Eddy Carroll makes soft sculptures.
Her art practice is an inquiry of emotional resonance via materiality.
She subverts and examines ‘craft’ techniques and materials while entering in to the language of textiles.
Often drawing on symbol and myth Eddy Carroll places slow work into a fast paced over produced contemporary culture.

YELLOW! Rapidly splashed over the paste ups on the walls of N.Y .
Splashed over faces, dripping intentionally down image.
YELLOW the colour symbolizing both optimism and sunshine, yet also cowardice and deceit.

A big Yellow splash, made with a fast action, leaving a lasting effect.
The Yellow splash masks the paste up and becomes the image.

My response was to slowly cross stitch the splash and create an adorned yellow mask, when worn becomes both costume and ceremony to a seemingly random and anonymous action.
